Last year I worked on a new show for Nickelodeon called "Making Fiends". This show was an internet cartoon created by fellow UCLA alumni, Amy Winfrey. It's about this girl, Vendetta, who grew tired of the authority that oppressed her, so she made these monsters (fiends) to help her rule with an iron fist over her hometown of Clamburg. Everyone's life then sucks. Then one day, this other girl named Charlotte shows up. Charlotte is too happy... so Vendetta wants to kill her.
Anyway, the show has finally aired (actually two months ago) so I can finally post some stuff I drew from that. (Hollywood is weird in that you feel like you have privledged secret knowledge of the government until the show airs, then you can be debriefed to share what you know) These are just some thumbnails and doodles I did on post-its thinking about poses and such for boarding. The characters were really simple so we put in more poses at the storyboard level. Being really green, easily excitable, and overly ambitious to prove my value I basically would end up keying out the animation the entire episodes I worked on. That and having a schedule to do entire boards from thumbnails to clean-ups in three weeks made me very stressed out that I was going to get fired every week. Yet what was supposed to be a three month job doing boards turned into a 9 month job in which I had a hand doing animatic revisions, and even animation retakes. So everything kind of worked itself out in the end. Great experience and I met alot of really cool people.
